Hot blast measurement on cupola furnace

Measurement of blast furnace gas, hot blast and cold blast volume flows at a cupola furnace for a Würz GmbH project

In the field of combustion processes, heat supply and heat recovery, WÜRZ GMBH is a powerful partner for various industrial sectors such as the steel and iron industry, foundries, wood and chemical industries. The reliable measurement of different volume and mass flows of e.g. blast furnace gas, combustion air, cold wind and flue gas is often of particular importance.

A classic application of our measurement technology is heat recovery in the context of thermal afterburning on a cupola furnace. In order to ensure optimum combustion of the CO-rich blast furnace gas, reliable measurement of the volume flows of the blast furnace gas and combustion air is particularly important in addition to measurement of the CO content. The same applies to the volume flow measurement of the cold wind, which is used to preheat the cupola furnace.

A special requirement for the measurement technology used here is that a reliable measurement must be guaranteed even if the compactness of the system does not permit the straight pipe lengths actually required.
